OUTSIDE THE GADGET CITY - PREVIEW

Finally! This week marks the end of my three years of Diploma Course. Life, for the past six years, was like a roller coaster. Six years straight of design studies, I have decided to take a little break. Take design easy for the time being! However, the last project I did in school was my favourite so far. I guess I can't get away from drawing, it's part of me and has been inside me since I was a child.

"Outside the Gadget City" is a story of two kids who grew up with gadgets. They had been living in The Gadget City since they were born and they have never experienced nature as it was separated clearly outside the city's boundaries. The story implies the current situation of the children growing up with gadgets in the city. Nature was clearly defined from the houses and experiencing nature is not needed anymore. This publication aids and encourage children to step out into the nature, to use nature elements (like leaves, branches, sand etc) to help the characters in the story along the way to complete tasks that the characters faced.

OUTSIDE THE GADGET CITY - IN THE MAKING

Recent weeks have been dreadful for me but worthwhile after seeing my little "babies" born in such a short period of time! Look out for the next post when everything is done~
Here's a little song to share, Featherstone by The Paper Kites.
Part of the inspirations for this project. =)

THE REAL WORLD OF HAYAO MIYAZAKI

I found 2 great series of Hayao Miyazaki's video and Joe Hisaishi's Princess Mononoke Symphonic Suite Performance conducted and played by himself! However, the interview is all conversed in chinese by Taiwan, but you are able to watch his workspace and his cute little home. =)

ILLUSTRATIONS - HIS FIRST VALENTINE

26 January 2012 / Acrylic + MDF Board

A little story of us that he had always boast about since we met again 4 years ago. He claimed that I was his first love when we were 7 and he was always observing me in school. Thus, I decided to draw him a little gift on Valentine's Day to keep him in mind that I am always and will always be his first valentine. =P

Valentine's Day was never a special day for me and my boy but it is this year as he is far far away in London. Thus, we wanted to make every single event special by putting in more attention to the dates than the passed 4 years. This was something that I have always wanted to draw but haven't found time to. I felt so sorry for my dear boy as I have not made anything real special for him yet that is related to my capabilities. This will not be the last I promise! Glad that he loves it!

POSTAGE FROM TAIWAN

More than a year ago, I met a really lovely mom and daughter from Taiwan. They were really encouraging and supportive of my works on Facebook. Not long ago, they were sharing pictures of their visit to the exhibition of an illustrator in Taiwan. I expressed my interest in the series of works and here it is, a calendar from Yin Peng and Mimi! They are such sweet people! Thank you and I really love the calendar!

Below are illustrations done by Fion Stewart.
Check out her Facebook page here: https://www.facebook.com/fionstewart

Yin Peng attached a little note to express gratitude and a little drawing done by Mimi. I really love it! Will definitely visit them on my next trip to Taiwan~

CHRISTMAS COLLECTION 2011

Just recently, I have decided to make some Christmas Cards for sale. There were very much doubts in mind through these years, thinking of how I should come up with a perfect plan before starting anything. Well, this year, I've decided to try something different, "Just Do It!".

I guess this could be a better plan than doing wild thoughts and nothing was done. I'm starting small and starting young, processing along the way and hope everyone can give me little support along the way! Thanks to my lovely friends who have given me some~ ^^
